  • For the Dough:
  • ¾ cup warm milk (110°F)
  • 2¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 tbsp orange zest
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • For the Filling:
  • ¼ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 tbsp orange zest
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • For the Glaze:
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp orange juice
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Make Dough: Dissolve yeast in warm milk with 1 tsp sugar. Let sit 5 minutes until foamy. Mix in remaining sugar, egg, melted butter, orange zest, and salt. Gradually add flour until soft dough forms.
  2. Knead & Rise: Knead dough 5-7 minutes until smooth. Place in greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1 hour until doubled.
  3. Prepare Filling: Mix softened butter, sugar, orange zest, and cinnamon.
  4. Shape Rolls: Roll dough into 12×18-inch rectangle. Spread filling evenly. Roll tightly from long side. Cut into 12 slices.
  5. Second Rise: Place rolls in greased 9×13 pan. Cover and rise 30 minutes.
  6. Bake: Preheat oven to 350°F. Bake 20-25 minutes until golden.
  7. Glaze: Whisk glaze ingredients until smooth. Drizzle over warm rolls.

Notes

  • For overnight rolls: Refrigerate after shaping and bake next morning
  • Extra citrus: Add ½ tsp orange extract to dough
  • Storage: Keep covered at room temperature 2 days or freeze unglazed
  • Presentation: Garnish with extra orange zest
  • Alternative pan: Use round cake pan for pull-apart style
