Pimento Cheese: A Southern Classic for Every Occasion

Pimento Cheese

Creamy, tangy Southern-style pimento cheese with sharp cheddar, roasted red peppers, and a hint of spice. The ultimate spread for sandwiches, crackers, or burgers!

Ingredients

Scale
    • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
    • 1/2 cup mayonnaise
    • 1 (4 oz) jar diced pimentos, drained
    • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
    • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
    • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Combine cheeses: In large bowl, mix both cheddars and cream cheese until well blended.
  2. Add wet ingredients: Stir in mayonnaise, pimentos, and grated onion.
  3. Season: Add Worcestershire, garlic powder, cayenne, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  4. Chill: Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours (best overnight) for flavors to meld.
  5. Serve: Bring to room temperature before serving with crackers, celery, or as a sandwich spread.

Notes

  • Texture tip: Hand-grating cheese makes it creamier than pre-shredded.
  • Spice control: Omit cayenne for mild version.
  • Variations: Add 1/2 cup crumbled bacon or 1 tbsp jalapeño relish.
  • Stores up to 1 week in airtight container.
