Delicious Salisbury Steak

A comforting classic Salisbury steak recipe featuring savory beef patties paired with rich mushroom and onion gravy.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup seasoned breadcrumbs
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • Pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for frying)
  • 1 medium onion, sliced or chopped
  • 8 ounces cremini mushrooms, sliced
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons flour
  • 1 3/4 cups beef broth
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, egg, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, breadcrumbs, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined and shape into 4 oval patties.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for 5-6 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  3. Remove patties and cover to keep warm, leaving fat in the pan.
  4. Add sliced onions and mushrooms to the skillet and cook for 7-9 minutes until softened.
  5. Add butter to the skillet, melt, then sprinkle flour and stir continuously for 1-2 minutes.
  6. Slowly whisk in beef broth until the mixture thickens. Add remaining Worcestershire sauce and garlic powder.
  7. Return the patties and veggies to the skillet. Simmer for another 5-7 minutes.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

For a lighter option, substitute ground turkey. Add fresh herbs for another layer of flavor!
