Irresistibly Delicious Smothered Chicken

  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (for dredging)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tablespoons butter (unsalted)

Instructions

  1. Season the chicken breasts with paprika, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Dredge them in flour, shaking off any excess.
  2. Sear the chicken for 4-5 minutes on each side in olive oil until golden brown. Remove from skillet.
  3. Cook the sliced onions and then add the minced garlic, cooking until fragrant.
  4. Make the gravy by adding chicken broth and Worcestershire sauce, then stirring in the heavy cream and letting it simmer.
  5. Return chicken to skillet and spoon gravy over it, then cover and simmer until chicken is cooked through.
  6. Serve hot with sides like mashed potatoes or rice.

Notes

For a thicker gravy, add a cornstarch slurry if necessary. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 4 days.
