Delicious Southern Green Beans with Bacon

  • 4 slices of bacon
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1/4 cup water or chicken broth

Instructions

  1. Rinse and trim the green beans, snapping off any tough bits.
  2. In a large skillet, cook the bacon over medium heat until crispy, about 7-10 minutes.
  3. Remove the bacon and set aside, leaving the drippings in the pan.
  4. Add the chopped onion to the skillet and cook until translucent, about 4-5 minutes.
  5. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
  6. Add the green beans and pour in the water or chicken broth, stirring to combine.
  7. Cover and cook for about 10-15 minutes, until the green beans are tender but still crunchy.
  8. Crumble the cooked bacon and stir it into the green beans.
  9. Season with salt and pepper to taste and serve warm.
