Ingredients
Scale
1 sheet Puff Pastry, thawed
8 ounces Cream Cheese, softened
1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
1 Large Egg, divided
1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract
1/2 teaspoon Lemon Zest (optional)
1 cup Fresh Strawberries, hulled and sliced
1 teaspoon Cornstarch
1 Large Egg for egg wash
Coarse Sugar for sprinkling (optional)
1/2 cup Powdered Sugar
1–2 tablespoons Milk or Cream
1/4 teaspoon Vanilla Extract (for glaze)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth, then mix in the granulated sugar, egg yolk, vanilla extract, and lemon zest until creamy.
Unfold the puff pastry on a floured surface and cut it into 6 rectangles.
Score a border about 1/2 inch from the edges of each rectangle and dock the center area with a fork.
Spoon cream cheese filling into the center of each rectangle, leaving space at the edges.
Toss the sliced strawberries with cornstarch and place them on top of the filling.
Brush the borders with egg wash and sprinkle with coarse sugar.
Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
While cooling, whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for the glaze.
Drizzle glaze over pastries after cooling for 10 minutes.
Notes
For extra shine, brush pastries with melted butter before glaze.
