Delicious Stromboli Recipe: A Perfect Family Treat

Stromboli

A crispy, golden-brown rolled pizza dough stuffed with layers of Italian meats, melted cheese, and veggies—perfect for parties, game day, or easy weeknight dinners!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1/4 cup flour (for rolling)
  • 1/2 cup marinara sauce (plus extra for dipping)
  • 8 slices deli ham or capicola
  • 10 slices salami
  • 10 slices pepperoni
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)
  • 1/2 cup sliced black olives (optional)
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Prep: Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Roll dough: On floured surface, roll dough into 12×16-inch rectangle.
  3. Layer fillings: Spread marinara sauce over dough, leaving 1-inch border. Layer meats, cheeses, and veggies. Sprinkle with Italian seasoning.
  4. Roll: Starting from long side, tightly roll dough into log. Pinch seams to seal; tuck ends under.
  5. Bake: Transfer seam-side down to baking sheet. Brush with egg wash, cut 4-5 steam vents on top. Bake 25-30 mins until golden brown.
  6. Rest & serve: Cool 5 mins before slicing. Serve with warm marinara.

Notes

  • Dough tip: Let refrigerated dough rest at room temp 30 mins before rolling
  • Make ahead: Assemble (unbaked) up to 24 hrs in advance
  • Vegetarian option: Use roasted veggies and omit meats
  • Freezing: Wrap baked stromboli tightly; reheat at 350°F for 15 mins
