Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef or turkey
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 cups cooked rice
  • 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce (homemade or store-bought)
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Additional green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, soy sauce, ginger, garlic, chopped green onions, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  3. Form the mixture into 1 to 1.5-inch meatballs and place on a lined baking sheet.
  4. Bake meatballs for 20–25 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
  5. Prepare the rice according to package instructions.
  6. Heat teriyaki sauce in a small saucepan until warm.
  7. To serve, place rice in a bowl, top with meatballs, drizzle with teriyaki sauce, and garnish with sesame seeds and green onions.

Notes

Let ground meat sit at room temperature for 10 to 15 minutes before mixing for better blending. Leftover meatballs store well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
