Thai Shrimp in a Blanket

A delightful appetizer combining seasoned shrimp wrapped in crispy pastry, perfect for gatherings and celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 cup thin pastry sheets (such as spring roll wrappers)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to taste)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying (vegetable oil recommended)
  • Dipping sauces (such as sweet chili sauce or soy sauce)

Instructions

  1. Season the shrimp with garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Marinate for at least 15 minutes.
  2. Cut passport sheets into quarters and wrap each seasoned shrimp tightly, sealing the edges.
  3. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat, ensuring it’s about ¼ inch deep.
  4. Fry the wrapped shrimp in the hot oil for 2-3 minutes until golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through.
  5. Drain on paper towels and serve hot with dipping sauces.

Notes

Ensure the oil is hot enough before frying to prevent sogginess. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
