Sparkling Winter White Sangria

A delightful winter-inspired beverage combining crisp fruits and sparkling wine, perfect for festive gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 apple (cored and sliced)
  • 1 red Anjou pear (cored and sliced)
  • 4 mandarin oranges (peeled segmented)
  • 1/2 cup fresh cranberries
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 6 star anise
  • 2 tbsp candied ginger (chopped)
  • 1 cup orange liqueur
  • 26 oz dry sparkling white wine (1 bottle)
  • 1/4 tsp salt

Instructions

  1. Start by slicing your apple and pear. Remember to remove the cores! Segment the mandarins carefully, making sure to keep the juices intact. Place all these fruits into a large, airtight jar or bowl.
  2. Add in the cranberries, cinnamon sticks, star anise, and chopped ginger. These spice elements will release their flavors as they meld overnight.
  3. Pour in the orange liqueur, covering the fruits and spices completely. Seal the jar and let it sit in the fridge for at least 120 minutes or ideally overnight.
  4. When you’re ready to serve, fill a pitcher or punch bowl primarily with ice. Pour in the marinated fruit mixture but leave out the spices like cinnamon sticks and star anise if you prefer a cleaner look.
  5. Gently pour in the chilled sparkling white wine just before serving. Mixing will allow the bubbles to come alive!

Notes

Always use fresh, organic fruits when possible for the best flavor. This sangria can be made a day in advance.
